Welcome to REN SAS

What is SAS?
Scout Active Support is the section for adults over 18 who wish to take part in Scouting activities.

Who is eligible?
Anyone over 18, it is that simple. You do not have to hold a position or Warrant with any group or have to have a DBS (CRB) check for our activities except for ones that are residential at Scouting sites.

So what is coming up?
Hopefully if you have read this far it has piqued your interest. We have the following events planned. Each event is run by a different member of the committee and we hope that in future people will offer to deliver an activity that they’d like to run.
• Xmas walk and Pub lunch – Friday 30th December – organiser Paul Catchpole. It’ll be in the Chorleywood/Chalfont area, meeting at 10am in Northwood or slightly later at the start, then a 2-3 hour walk before lunch. Please can we have indications of interest (no commitment) by 15th December then details will be circulated and confirmed before Christmas.
• Paccar Supper quiz – Saturday 28th January 2017 day cost £10 per ticket or £15 with minibus transport – organiser Trevor Alexander
• Jack the Ripper walk – Saturday 25th February 2017 Cost £10 per ticket – organiser Leo Mindel
• Omid Djalili comedy night at Watford Coliseum – Sunday 07th May cost approx. £26 + dinner – organiser Gaynor Mason
If you would like to attend any of the events please send your numbers to sas@renscouts.org.uk
Further events will vary from Museum and Famous building visits through to Go Karting, Narrow Boat weekends, and Tall Ship Sailing. Of course, hiking, camping and other Scouting style activities will be there, as well as helping at events that the District put on. Initially the activities are based on getting ourselves up and running.

Can I cherry pick what I attend?
Absolutely, we will be surprised if anyone wants to attend all the activities. There will be a real mix however it is up to members to pick the things they do or do not want to participate in.

Can I invite non Scouting people?
Yes the whole point is to expand those involved however where there are limits on numbers it will need to be those linked to a group first.

Costs?
At this time there is no membership or subscriptions however paid events will have a cost and include us covering the running costs of say the group minibuses for transport.

Where do I get Further info?
Just use the contact page to get in touch with any questions or to sign up for events or for updates, and look out for events in each District Newsletter.

What do we give back to Scouting?
Twofold. The first is for events like swimming galas or sports days where the District need help. We will pass the information onto members however it is not compulsory to help. The second is to expose Scouting to a greater number of adults, that will help promote Scouting, and hopefully find a new generation of Leaders.
Please remember you are more than welcome to invite friends.
