St George’s Day 2017

REN Scouts and Guides met to mark St George’s Day in Churchfield Gardens, Ruislip, on Sunday 23rd April. Unfortunately we weren’t able to march as a District this year as we couldn’t use the roads, but all groups met up and paraded in from different directions on the pavements. Before our promise renewal, we were treated to an interactive demonstration of the bravery of St George – each of the local villages of Cubs and Beavers were unable to see off the dragon with their various defences but fortunately along came St George to slay it (no Explorers were injured in the making or slaying of this particular dragon!). A total of 33 recently-completed Chief Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold awards were presented to young people in the District. Wood Badges for completion of Adult Training were presented to Joe, Julie, Gareth, Jo, Ben, Edd, Gaynor, Andrew, Sophie, Garry & Steve. Kerry Horgan of 1st Northwood was presented with the Bar to Award for Merit for continued outstanding service to Scouting. Congratulations to all of them and thank you to everyone who took part in the day.
